MTX Audio originated in 1979 as a small business in Winslow, Ill., and it
has evolved into a dynamic, leading U.S. manufacturing company of high
performance car, home and professional audio products.
MTX was founded by MTX CEO and chairman Loyd Ivey, who, at the age of 16,
he turned his passion for audio into a business, selling speakers that he
made in his garage. Many of those original speakers can still be seen in
restaurants and entertainment establishments throughout the Midwest.
Subscribing to the innovative philosophy of vertical integration, MTX Audio
has continued to grow and prosper under Ivey's direction. With
manufacturing facilities in Phoenix, Ariz., Monroe, Wis. and Winslow, Ill.,
MTX is manic about controlling product quality and performance. The car
audio amplifiers, for example, are all tested before they are shipped to
make sure that they meet or exceed expectations. Once they pass the series
of tests, each amplifier gets a Certified Performance Certificate,
attesting to that individual amplifier's performance.
Ivey lives by the motto:
"Give customers what they want, when they want it, at a price they are
willing to pay."
Ivey is the driving force behind MTX and his love of music and sound
reproduction keep the company forging ahead into the future with exciting
new products. However, he attributes much of MTX's continued growth and
success to his more than 750 dedicated employees, called "partners," many
of whom have been with the company for 10 to 20 years.
"This company has a heart and soul quality that's unparalleled in this
industry," Ivey said. "We're like a big family with a common bond - We like
good music, and we like it loud."
