MTX speakers have been designed to perform well in a variety of enclosures. We have included Sealed, Vented, and Bandpass application information.
Each driver has complete specifications, dimensions, and features listed.
Enclosure Volume is the total amount of internal airspace of an enclosure. This includes the net, driver and vent volumes.
F3 is determined by the frequency at which the output is 3dB lower than the level at 100Hz. This frequency was chosen because it is a typical crossover point. In the case of a Bandpass system, F3 is determined by the frequency at which the output is 3dB lower than the level at the middle of the pass band.
Vent Dimensions are given in the format of Internal Diameter(in inches) X Length (in inches). Another equivalent vent may be substituted, but remember to adjust the enclosure “gross” volume. The various volumes are listed in each enclosure description.
Tuning Frequency is the tuning frequency of the enclosure.
Qtc is the “Q” of a sealed enclosure. A Qtc of .7 has smoothest response and the lowest F3. A Qtc of above 1.1 should only be used by those who like a “Boomy” response.
Ripple is determined by the greatest deviation above or below the level at 100Hz before the driver rolls off.In the case of a Bandpass system, Ripple is determined by the greatest deviation above the level at the middle of the pass band.
Excursion Limited Power Handling is based on the maximum amount of power the driver can take without appreciable distortion. All frequencies 30 Hz and above are considered in this limit.
Excursion Limited SPL is the maximum sound pressure level the system can produce given an input signal equal to the rated excursion limited power handling.
Net Volume is the amount of airspace that is enclosed within the enclosure. This does not include the airspace taken up by bracing, vents, or the speaker itself.
Driver Volume is the amount of enclosure airspace that is displaced by the speaker itself.
Sealed Volume is the amount of enclosure airspace on one side of a woofer in a bandpass system that acts as a sealed enclosure.
Vented Volume is the amount of enclosure airspace on one side of a woofer in a bandpass system that acts as a vented enclosure.
Vent Volume is the amount of enclosure airspace that is displaced by the vent.
s is a description of the shape of the pass band. S values range from .4 to 1. An s value of .7 is considered Ideal due to its flat frequency response.
Bandpass is the frequency response of the bandpass subwoofer system. (F3 on the Low Side, F3 on the High Side)
Bandpass Gain is the increase (or decrease) in efficency due to the enclosure size and tuning. (This is referenced to the Midband Sensitivity of the speaker itself.
